Colossi of Memnon Two colossal stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, standing in front of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III, located in Thebes, Luxor, Egypt. These statues date back to 1350 BC and are made of blocks of quartzite sandstone that were quarried and transported from Jabal al-Ahmar (near present-day Cairo) to Thebes.
